Beauty treatmentsWhat the session involves, in order, and what is agreed first
One company, two jobs — choose which leads
Front of houseChairs, basins and the side room at Aylesham Back officeAnother salon diary, held from the same buildingBy appointment, in the side room or at the chair
To you. Again by duration and process: what is done, in what order, and how long it is booked for.
Some of this happens at a chair in the main room and some in the side room with the door shut, and which it is changes what can be booked around it. The room takes one person at a time and cannot be doubled up, so a session in there holds the whole slot.
At the chair
A brow shape is twenty minutes: the shape is agreed first with a mirror in your hand, then done, then checked in the same mirror. A brow tint is twenty-five. A lash tint is thirty, most of which is spent lying still with your eyes closed while it takes. For a first tint of either kind, a skin test is booked as a separate ten-minute slot at least forty-eight hours in front, exactly as for hair colour.
Hands and feet
A file and polish is forty minutes at the chair. Soaking off an existing gel and re-applying is an hour, and the first twenty minutes of that is the removal, which cannot be rushed without wrecking the nail underneath. A pedicure is fifty minutes and is booked into the side room, because it is done with your feet up and that is where the chair for it is.
Waxing, and the long session
Waxing is booked by area: a lip at ten minutes, an underarm at fifteen, a half leg at thirty, a full leg at fifty. All of it is in the side room. The longest thing on the list is a fifty-five minute session in the same room, which runs cleanse, mask, the mask sitting for about fifteen minutes, then a scalp and shoulder finish while it does. You are told the order before it starts and you can stop at any stage.
What gets agreed before it starts
Three things, every time, out loud at the start: what area is being worked on, how long the appointment has, and anything you want left alone. If you tell us about something on your skin that makes you unsure, the sensible answer from us is to not do that area and to say so plainly; nobody here gives advice about skin or health, and nothing on this page is advice of that kind.
Rooms behave differently from chairs in a diary
Owner to owner. If you have a beauty room as well as a floor, this is the part of your diary we treat differently.
A chair can be held while something processes and handed to a second client in the middle. A room cannot. One door, one person, no overlap — so a room is the first thing in a diary to become the constraint, and the last thing anyone notices has become the constraint.
Your service list therefore needs a column we do not need for the floor: which resource each line consumes. We book room work strictly in sequence, with your turnaround left between, and we never put a room line into a processing window.
Two more rules we will hold to unless your sheet tells us otherwise. Anything with a skin test in front of it cannot be booked inside the test window, and the desk will offer the next date that clears it rather than the date the caller asked for. And a long room session is not shortened on the phone to make it fit; if the caller only has forty minutes, we offer a different line or a different day and note the refusal in the log so you can see demand you are turning away.
The weekly desk time all of this costs is worked out on the load sheet, and the hours it is covered in are on Quiet hours and cover.

Read the table as a timetable. It says how long an appointment is held open and which resource it uses. It does not say what any of it will do, and the people here do not comment on skin or health.
